Maxine Lorraine (Owens) Keener, 78, passed away at her residence on October 10, 2026, surrounded by her family. Born on October 13, 1948 in Cumberland, MD to the late, Albert C. and Norma W. (Long) Owens. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Wayne J. Keener; and son, Albert W. Keener.

Maxine was a graduate of Fort Hill High School and continued her education at Frostburg State University, eventually graduating with her master’s degree in education. Maxine worked as a teacher for over 30 years in the Paw Paw, WV school system. She was an avid flea marketer, poker player and animal lover.

Maxine is survived by her loving sons; Dwayne Keener and his fiance, Cindy and Kevin Keener and his fiance, Kim; grandchildren, Austin Keener and his wife, Desiray, Shasta Shaffer and her husband, Julius and Jacob Keener; great grandchildren, William Keener, Lukus Keener, River Keener, Adaya Keener, Ava Keener, Ashton Keener and Axel Shaffer.

Friends will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., on Monday, October 19, from 10:00 am-12:00 pm. A funeral service will begin at 12:00 pm.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland, MD.
