Obituary

CUMBERLAND – Maxine Lee "Max" Miller, 94, of Cumberland, passed away Saturday, October 3, 2020, at her residence. Born January 20, 1926, in Cumberland, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Stotler and Minnie Grace (Rust) Wolford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Chester Miller on April 11, 2005. Max was a 1944 graduate of Fort Hill High School, and she went on to work as a salesperson at Bernstein's Furniture Store. She was a member of Second English Lutheran Church in Baltimore, a member of the Woodlawn Order of the Eastern Star in Baltimore, and a member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. Since 1981, she was a volunteer at the VA Clinic in Baltimore, and she also donated her time to the Cumberland Veterans Clinic. Max is survived by two sisters-in-law, Dee Wolford Thomas, Cumberland, and Elaine C. Miller, Mt. Savage; three nieces; four nephews. She is also survived by her sitters who became family and took wonderful care of her needs. In accordance with her wishes, Max's body will be cremated. Her remains will be inurned in Maryland State Veterans Cemetery, Rocky Gap, with her husband's. Services will be private. Condolences may be left at www.ScarpelliFH.com.
