CUMBERLAND – Melvena Bible, 79, passed away surrounded by her family on March 15, 2022, at the Allegany Health Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born on July 3, 1942, in Cumberland, to the late Melvin Uplinger and Evelyn Robey-Snyder. In addition to her parents, Melvena was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, James Bible, Sr. Melvena graduated from Fort Hill High School in the Class of 1960. She then had a 39-year-long career with the United States Postal Service. In her spare time she loved to travel and was an avid NASCAR and Conway Twitty fan; however, above all else, she loved spending time with her large extended family and pets. She is survived by her children, James Bible, Jr., Troy Bible (Tonya), Brenda Shumaker (Bobby); brother, Randy Snyder; brother-in-law, Norman Bible; sister-in-law, Sandy Weddle and husband, Harry; grandchildren, Josh Nixon (Lynn), Cassidy Bible (Andrew), Ashley Bible (Dan), Jennifer Bible, Scott Shumaker (Megan), Nikita Bible, Tara Bible (Johnny), Danielle Bible (Dan), Kari Morozek (Jamey), Kristen Bible (Derrick), Troy Bible, Jr., Austin Bible (Megan), Trenton Bible (Tiffany), and Maxxwell Bible; great-grandchildren, Charles, Josahlyn, Josh, Jr., Everly Grace, Elias, Athena, Asmay, Amyra, Reece, Hagan, Khiante, Kade, JR, Tyler, Levi, Madison, Payton, Makenzie, Layla, and Jaxon; her furbaby, Zoey Rene and grand-dog, Paisley Jean. She was looking forward to the arrival of her next great-grandchild in August. Visitation will be Friday, March 18, 2022, from 2-4:00 and 7-9:00 p.m. at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave, Cumberland. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, March 19 at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Mark Dill officiating. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service.
