Melvin E. Mumma, 75, passed away on March 17, 2023 at UPMC Western Maryland Regional Medical Center due to throat cancer.

Melvin was a celebrated Marine Corp Vietnam War Veteran and was a member of the American Legion Post #13. Mr. Mumma has been a Cumberland resident for many decades and has been a pillar of the community, serving his community, his fellow friends and anyone he encountered who was in need whom he could help.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 24, 2023, at 9:30 am at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, MD. Interment will follow Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery at 11 am, and there will be a funeral reception luncheon immediately afterward at the Union Rescue Mission. Military honors will be accorded by the Ft. Cumberland Post 13 Honor Guard.
