RIDGELEY, WV – Michael Kenneth Sherman, age 76, went to be with the Lord on February 21, 2023 at his home in Ridgeley, WV. He was born in Cumberland, MD, May 6, 1946, to the late Kenneth and Wanda Weller Sherman. His family lived in Rowlesburg, WV, for his early educational years.

Mike was a 1964 graduate of Fort Hill High School, Cumberland, MD, where he participated in track and ran cross-country. He was also a member of the US Army Reserves.

Michael married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Harolyn Hipsley, on April 1, 1967, in Saint Mary's Church, Cumberland. He provided hearth and home for his family by working at the CSX Cumberland Locomotive shops. While he was in good health, he and the family enjoyed vacationing in Myrtle Beach, camping, and going on cruises. He especially loved to shoot pool with family and friends and follow WVU sports.

Since 1999, Mike was locked in his own world physically, but he always had a twinkle in his eye and a slightly crooked smile for his family and friends.

Mike is survived by his devoted wife, Harolyn, his children Brian (Amy) of Dubai 'UAE, Lisa Hanna (Greg) of Singapore, and Amy Carola (Andy) of Oakland, MD, his brother Gary (Cheryl) of Forney, Texas, and his six grandchildren: Olivia and Elena Sherman, Michael, Mason, Miles and Max Leydig, and the boys' father Bradley Leydig.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, PA., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, on Sunday, February 26, 2023, from 10am to 12pm. A memorial service will immediately follow at 12pm with Pastor Denny Michael officiating.
