Michael Robert Spangler, 69, passed away Wednesday, April 22nd, 2026 at his home in Oldtown, Maryland.
He was born on June 1st, 1957, to Barbara and Bob Spangler.
He is survived by his mother, Barbara Winterberg-Spangler; and his two brothers, Todd Spangler and Mark Spangler; his wife, Kelly Spangler; daughter, Michelle Spangler-Stottlemeyer; granddaughter, Delilah Stottlemyer and her partner Cameron Burrier; son, Bryan Spangler and wife Amy; grandchildren, Elliott Spangler, Clarissa Spangler and Keaton Spangler.
Michael was a United States Air Force Veteran. He had recently retired after working as a machinist for over 30 years at Schroeder Industries in Cumberland, Maryland.
His life was that of a true man – dedicated endlessly to his family. He prided himself on a relentless work ethic and his ability to provide for his loved ones. He was an avid and passionate music lover. He will forever be missed.
In the words of one of his favorite music artists, Jackson Browne,
"I'm gonna rent myself a house,
In the shade of the freeway,
Gonna pack my lunch in the morning,
And go to work each day,
And when the evening rolls around,
I'll go on home and lay my body down,
And when the morning light comes streaming in,
I'll get up and do it again."
In accordance with his wishes, he will be cremated.
A small graveside service will be held on May 3, 2026, at 1:00 pm at Green Ridge Cemetery, Oldtown MD, with Pastor Leo Lavin officiating.
