Michael Wayne Wood, 72, of Cumberland, passed away on July 18, 2024 at UPMC-WM.

Michael was born in Oakland, MD on September 12, 1951 to the late John Wood and Elizabeth Tipping. In addition to his parents he was proceeded in death by his brothers, Jimmy and Johnny Wood.

Michael was proud to have served his country in the US Navy. Many skills he learned in his service helped him in his later career of being a mechanic. In his free time, he was an avid fan of camping and fishing. He was also a life-time member of the Good Fellowship Club and a tribe member of the Improved Order of the Redman #201.

He is survived by his wife, Monna J. (Metzner) Wood. In addition to his wife, Michael is survived by his sister, Veronica Flanagan and husband, Paul; his children, Michael and Terri; his sister-in-law, Sissy; brother-in-law, Bud Metzner and Kathie Jones; and his grandchildren.

A visitation will be held at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave, Cumberland, MD, on Thursday, July 25, 2024, from noon until 1 p.m. A funeral service to follow officiated by Pastor Bruce McBride. Burial will be in the Maryland Veteran's Cemetery at Rocky Gap, Flintstone, MD.
