CUMBERLAND – Myrtle Irene Bittinger, 94, of Cumberland, passed away peacefully in her sleep at the home of her daughter on March 23, 2024.

Born in Pennsylvania on September 8, 1929, she was the daughter of Andrew Jackson Mull and Ethel Priscilla (Clites) Mull. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Bittinger, Sr.; son, Robert L. Bittinger, Jr.; and sisters, Marie Benning and Mabel Mull.

Myrtle was the last surviving member of the Vietnam Gold Star Mothers of Cumberland.

She was employed at Ali Ghan Shrine Club and assisted her husband with his contracting company.

She loved to fish, hunt, garden, and she was a master of crochet having won numerous awards.

She is survived by her son, Charles (Brenda); daughter, Anna Dawson (Richard); and son, Dennis; brothers, George Resh (Betty), Reuben Lafferty; sisters, Mildred Tiano, Mary Wakefoose (Donald); grandchildren, Chuckie Jr. (Donna), Bobby (Tiffany), Timmy, Christine, and Gregory; great-grandchildren, Adam, Kaytlyn, Bobby Jr., Leah, John, Lara, and Evan; great-great-grandchildren, AlliRose, Jaxen, Liam, and Lydia.

Interment in Hillcrest Burial Park will be private.
