Nancy Helen
Howard
Jun 22, 1938 — Mar 24, 2025
It is with sadness that her family announces the passing of Nancy Helen (Cadwell) Howard, 86, of Cumberland, Maryland. Although we will miss her presence in our lives, we are joyful that she has met her heavenly father and been reunited with husband and family.
Nancy was born on June 22, 1938 in Holyoke Massachusetts to Karl H. Cadwell, Jr. and Clara Cote Cadwell Taylor. Nancy spent her younger years with her siblings and cousins in Holyoke. She later moved to Granby where she spent her teen years and attended Ludlow High School. Nancy later earned her GED in Maryland in 1971, an accomplishment of which she was very proud.
While living in Granby, Nancy met Robert Howard, who was assigned to Westover Air Force Base and resided in Granby. They married on June 8, 1958 and moved to Uhl Highway in Cumberland, Maryland, where they resided for over 45 years together. Nancy and Bob enjoyed square dancing in their younger years, trips to visit relatives and spending time with their 2 sons and grandchildren. She loved playing cards and made many special friends in various card groups. She spent many hours sewing and crocheting and loved sharing items she created. Nancy was a long-time member of Davis Memorial United Methodist Church, where she attended services regularly and sang in the choir. Most recently, Nancy enjoyed a life with friends at The Kensington.
Nancy is survived by her sons, Patrick Howard (Debbie) and John Howard (Susan) and her grandchildren, Matthew (Julia), Andrew (Kristen), Duncan, Kailey and Olivia, as well as three great grandchildren, Liam, Magnolia and Rhett. Her brother, Karl Cadwell resides in California. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her sisters, Sheila Hayes and Judy Taylor; special aunt, Helen Cadwell, and special uncle, John Cadwell.
In keeping with her wishes, Nancy was cremated.
Friends will be received at Davis Memorial Methodist Church, 14300 Uhl Hwy SE, Cumberland, on Saturday, April 5, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. A funeral service will immediately follow at 12 p.m. with Rev. Glenn Capacchione officiating. Following the service, a meal will be held at the fellowship hall.
