Chesterfield, VA – Nicholas Timothy Bittinger, 39, of Chesterfield, VA and originally of Cumberland, MD, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, February 26, 2024.
Born March 15, 1984, in Cumberland, he was the son of Tami Lynn (Broadwater) Rickey and husband Jeff, and Timothy Allen Bittinger and wife, Carol. He was preceded in death by both his maternal grandparents; Grover and Mary (Fraley) Broadwater and paternal grandparents, Paul and Charlotte (Jones) Bittinger.
Nicholas graduated from James Wood High School in Winchester, VA and later obtained an Associate's Degree in Information Technology, which enabled him to be employed at various companies including University of Maryland and the Durham Performing Arts Center in Durham, NC.
There was no greater joy in life for Nicholas than spending time with his children. They enjoyed many precious moments together hiking and fishing. Nicholas also was an avid reader, loved cooking, riding four-wheelers and just being outdoors in general. Having family in the Richmond, VA area, as well as, the Western Maryland area, allowed him to enjoy different environments and experiences with all of his family members with whom he loved very much.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his children, Amelia Paige Bittinger and Jack Elias Bittinger; their mother, Ashley Mae Bookheimer; his siblings, Autumn Bittinger Bartlett and husband Chris, and their son a special nephew James, Matthew Rickey, Chandra Andrews, Autumn Nicol, and Amber Nicol; and a very large extended family with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 15205 McMullen Hwy SW, Cresaptown on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. with his father Pastor Tim Bittinger and Pastor Shawn Shumaker officiating.
Pallbearers will be John Bobo Jr., Brian Bobo, Jordan West, Isaac Dixon, Jonathan Hotchkiss, and Casey Broadwater.
Interment will be Restlawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale, MD.
