CUMBERLAND – Nina Louise Rice, 75, of Cumberland, MD, passed away on May 20, 2023, at University of Maryland Medical Center Shock Trauma in Baltimore.

Born on May 22, 1947, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Jesse and Betty Lambert. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by parents-in-law, Albert and Katherine (Dean) Rice; a brother-in-law, Robert "Bobby" Rice.

Nina graduated from Fort Hill High School and went on to work as CNA at Scared Heart Hospital. She was member the Goodfellowship Social Club, and was Capitan of the GFC Two Shuffleboard League Team. Nina was also a member of American Legion Post 13 Ladies Auxiliary and the Cumberland Outdoor Club.

Nina is survived by her husband of 47 years, Michael Rice, Sr.; six children, Ronald Rice (Kristy), South Dakota, Brian Rice (Erin), Cumberland, Joseph Rice, Cumberland, Michael Rice, Jr. (Pam), South Dakota, Dawn Jewell (Derek), Cumberland, and Christine Zarger, Cumberland. She also leaves behind grandchildren, Cheyane Rice and fiancé, Seth Buckbee, Trenton Tichnell, James Butler, Jackson Butler, Dakota Burns, Lauren Rice (Jennifer), Tara Rice, Tyua Miller (Roy), Brian Leasure (Todd), Ela Rice (Justin), Tyler Lau, Michael Lau, and Zac Lau (Jamilee); great-grandchildren, Laine Michael, Lexi Rice, Kaylyn Marie, James and Owen; brothers, Richard Lambert, Johnny Lambert (Linda), and Jesse Lambert (Beth); sisters, Donna Lambert and Brenda Lambert; brother-in-laws, Warren Rice and Gary Rice; and a large extended family with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She will be deeply missed by all of her family and friends. Fly high, mom, grandma, and great-grandma. We love you!

In accordance with her wishes, Nina will be cremated.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, from 11am to 1pm. A memorial service will immediately follow at 1pm with Pastor Charlie Riggleman officiating.
