Cresaptown – Nora Mae (Durr) Breighner, 89, of Cresaptown, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at UPMC – Western Maryland.

Born June 22, 1934, in Garrett County, MD, she was the daughter of the late William M. and Amanda E. (Buckel) Durr. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Carl A. Breighner in 1991; brothers, Albert Bernard "Bernie" and Olen L. Durr; sister-in-law, "Shine" Durr.

Nora was a graduate of Allegany High School, and she attended Catherman's Business School. She worked as a secretary at Crites Transfer Trucking Company until her retirement.

She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, and she enjoyed crocheting and working jigsaw puzzles. Nora especially loved watching her grandson operate O Scale trains and collecting Snoopy memorabilia for her granddaughter.

Nora is survived by her daughter, Brenda K. Halle and husband, Robert; grandchildren, Robert C. Halle and Katelyn A. Halle; brother, Herbert Durr and wife, Ruth; special nephew, Alan Durr and wife, Vicki; many additional nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, J. Arlene Durr and Geraldine Durr; and her beloved cat, Tootsie.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 15205 McMullen Hwy SW, Cresaptown, on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. A graveside service will follow at MD State Veterans Cemetery, Rocky Gap, at 1:00 p.m. with Chaplain Bruce McBride officiating.
