Obituary

Oldtown – Norma Jean Davis, 85, of Oldtown, went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 2, 2023 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV.

Born on May 15, 1938, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Athey William and Isabelle (Harbaugh) Blacker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George E. Davis, Sr.; her oldest son, George E. Davis, Jr.; her granddaughter, Jennifer G. Davis; her two brothers, Gary Blacker and Paul Blacker; her oldest sister, Phyllis Bobo; and Her daughter in law Gail Davis.

Norma and George were married for 52 years until George went to heaven in 2004. Norma was a mother to many, in addition to her five children, George E. Davis, Jr. and wife, Gail (deceased), William Davis and wife, Sharon, Norman Davis, Kellie Grady and husband, Mike, Sherry McMillan and husband, Bill. Norma has one living sister, Sherry Strietbeck and husband, Butch; seven grandchildren, George E. Davis III and wife, Rayelle, Jacob Davis and wife, Belinda Davis, Jennifer Davis (deceased), Kina Davis and friend, Kenny, Wheaton Davis and friend, Kenny, Zachary McMillan and friend, Jaime, Julia Steward and husband, Jared; 18 great grandchildren, George E. Davis IV and fiancé, Zoe, Savanna and fiancé, Tyson, Gwenaveve and friend, Daniel, Corrina and husband, Taylor, Sidney and friend, Konner, Josh and friend, Kaley, Ashley and Brody, Tristan, Jackson, Zachariah, Cody, Charlie, Ana and Moses, Treston, Braydon and Armana; one great great-grandchild, Daniel.

Norma had a wonderful group of friends that she treasured. They called themselves Crafty Christian Soul Sisters. They would sew, make crafts and candy and sell them to make money for various charities. Wanda, Pat and Kate are in heaven with Norma now. Doris, JoJo, Martha and Mary will continue their work.

Norma was a nurse aid for almost 20 years. She worked as an aid in Florida and in Las Vegas, Nevada. After returning here, Norma worked in the nursery at Memorial Hospital for 16 years and retired in 1986. Norma was a caregiver for many elderly patients until she was unable to do that.

Friends will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., Saturday, August 5, 2023 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. A funeral service will immediately follow with Pastor Caleb Shaffer officiating.

Interment will be at Maryland State Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap.

Honorary Pallbearers will be George E. Davis III, George E. Davis IV, Jacob Davis, Josh Montoya, and Zachary McMillan
