Ridgeley – Norma Jean (Isner) Dayton, 87, of Short Gap, WV, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024 at Allegany Nursing and Rehab.
Born October 8, 1936, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Jesse D. and Margaret (Bean) Isner. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Calvin Parker Dayton; one son, Robert Jackson "Bobby Jack" Dayton; brother, Kenneth Isner and wife Eleanor; sister, Naomi Broome and husband Carroll; two brothers-in-law, Arthur Siple and Donald Bulger.
Norma was a graduate of Fort Ashby High School class of 1953. While in High School, she was a basketball cheerleader for four years. Following high school, Norma was married to Calvin in 1954.
Norma was a homemaker who helped her husband manage the family farm. She was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church and the Short Gap Devotional Group for several years. In this ministry, she visited various Nursing Homes. Norma was a meticulous housekeeper who hated to have anything in her home out of place.
Surviving are her three sons, Kent P. Dayton and wife Robin, Brian D. Dayton and wife Jill, Dr. Barry D. Dayton and wife Carrie; seven grandchildren, Jeremy P. Dayton and wife Andrea, Jennifer M. Dayton, Shawn M. Thomson and wife Loretta, Christopher L. Hickle, Taylor A. Dayton, Hunter C. Dayton, Parker C. Dayton; five great-grandchildren, McKenna N. Dayton, Delaney N. Dayton, Jackson P. Dayton, Madison Bearinger and Micah X. Thomson; two brothers, Vernon Isner and wife Gail, and Darell Isner; two sisters, Eileen Siple and Carolyn Bulger. Norma is also survived by several nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Friends will be received at Cornerstone Baptist Church form 11 A.M. until 1 P.M. on Saturday, May 4, 2024. The funeral service will be held at the church at 1 P.M.
Interment will be in Pinto Mennonite Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Norma's memory may make contributions to Cornerstone Baptist Church, 930 Frederick St, Cumberland, MD 21502.
