Cumberland – Norma Jean Lavin, 56, of Cumberland, passed away Friday, August 23, 2024 at UPMC Western Maryland surrounded by her family and close friends.
Born September 22, 1967, in Cumberland, MD, she was the daughter of the late Harlan Joseph Propst and Darlene Marie (Dawson) Propst. She was the only daughter out of four children. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her younger brother, Larry Eugene Propst and her great-granddaughter, Bailey Walters.
Norma spent her life as a homemaker. She enjoyed scrapbooking, working on diamond paintings, online games, cooking, sharing knowledge, wisdom with her children and grandchildren, and time with her family. She enjoyed being outside also, took pride in her flower bed and decor.
Norma leaves behind her husband of 22 years. Even though they have been together for most of their lives, John Lavin. She leaves behind her children, daughters Jessica Muir and husband Chris, Jennette Hubbard and husband David, Autumn Mocarsky and husband Pete, and Mari Lavin; as well as her only son, John Lavin Jr. and wife Charity. Her grandchildren, Destiny, Harley, and Mason Davidson, Addison Muir, Alvin Lavin, Nakisha (Dakoda), Caitlin (Jordon), James (Breanika), and Matthew (Rhiannon) Hubbard, Charity Folk, Raven, Raelynn, and Raymond Mocarsky. Her great-grandchildren, Sebastian Crabtree, Dominik Whittington, Rayne Kennel, Eleanor Hubbard, Alexandria and Nevaeh Walters. Her brothers, Harold Propst and William Propst and wife Kathi. She also leaves behind numerous aunts and uncles, nieces, and nephews, and friends.
In accordance to her wishes, her body will be cremated.
Friends and family will be received at Freedom Christian Church, 936 Winifred Road, Cumberland, MD on Saturday, August 31, 2024, starting at 5 p.m.
A memorial service will immediately follow with a luncheon right after for family and friends.
