Norma Theresa (Artinghellis) Shatzer, 90, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 24, 2021. Born on March 18, 1931, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Valentine and Theresa (Carpenti) Artinghellis. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Royce F. Shatzer; daughter, Karen L. Shatzer; sisters, Domenica "Maggie" (Artinghellis) Aman, and Sr. Francesca Cabrini Artinghellis S.S.N.D. She graduated in 1953 from Sacred Heart Hospital School of Nursing. She was President of her class, where she earned her R.N. degree. She was a dedicated and devoted "old school" nurse. Norma was a devout Catholic and member of St. Patrick's Church, Cumberland. She was a member of the Bowling Green Fire Department Women's Auxiliary. Norma was the matriarch of our family. She always made sure everyone had what they needed before herself. Family meant everything to her. She was very proud of her Italian heritage. Her parents immigrated to American from Fano Adriano, Italy. Surviving are her children, Cindy (Shatzer) Galliher, Royce Shatzer and wife Jeannette, JoAnne Shatzer, Timothy Shatzer, and Thomas Shatzer and wife Noelle; grandchildren, Todd Robey, Melanie Benson, Kimberly McDonald, Nicole Shroyer, Holli Shroyer, Kayla Shatzer, and Daniel Shatzer; three great-grandchildren, Britney Robey, Sean Robey, Addison Shroyer, and one on the way, Silas; and three great great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters-in-law, and numerous friends. Family and friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, on Monday, August 30, 2021, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home immediately following visitation at 1 p.m. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
