OLDTOWN Patricia Diane Abe, 70, of Oldtown, passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at the home of her niece.Born June 17, 1947, in Oldtown, MD, Pat was the daughter of the late James Walker Abe and Vertus Caroline (Santmyire) Abe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Fred Abe, William Abe, Terry Abe, and Kenny Abe; and sisters, Debra (Abe) Loar, Shirley (Abe) Yaider, and Bonnie (Abe) Nolan.Pat held many different jobs in her life. First, she worked as a cook at Frank's Drive In. She went on to make shoes as a factory worker at Kenny's Shoes. She then moved on to work as a supervisor at Precise Metals and Plastic. Finally, Pat was a seamstress at a sewing factory in Cumberland.Not only did she work for her entire life, she also regularly volunteered her time. She donated much of her time to Oldtown School. She often made food for the teachers' luncheons and filled in as a lunch monitor when needed. Pat also donated her time to her family. She provided care to her parents, siblings, nieces and nephews.Pat was a member of Bethel Assembly of God in Oldtown. She made friends there who eventually formed a ladies' group that Pat loved taking part in. They made Easter candy, quilted, and sewed. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, and cake decorating for her family and friends.Pat leaves behind her son, Gregg P. Abe, Oldtown, MD; her only surviving sister, Sara K. Paxton and husband Alan D., Cumberland, MD; niece, Stephanie Yaider, Cumberland; and numerous other nieces and nephews.Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Friday, May 25, 2018, from 6 to 8 pm. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, May 26, 2018, at 1 pm with Pastor Steve Nelson officiating.
