Patricia "Anne" Cross Gellner, formerly of Cumberland, MD, died Friday, June 17, 2022, at Peak Healthcare at the Pines in Easton, MD. She was 87 years old.
Born July 29, 1934, in Dunbar, PA, she was the youngest of six children born to Jesse Mae (Hall) Dixon and Fred Harry Dixon. Cumberland, MD, became her home at the age of 7 when the family moved there.
Mrs. Cross Gellner was preceded in death by her husband, Bashor Anderson Cross, Jr.; and her second husband, C. Philip "Phil" Gellner.
She is survived by her two children, Jennifer L. (Cross) Reagan and husband James T. Reagan, III, of Centreville, MD, and Matthew D. Cross and wife Rebecca. Anne is also survived by ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Known to friends and family as Anne, Mrs. Cross Gellner was a beloved first and second grade teacher for Allegany County Schools for many years. She was such an inspiration, that a few former students chose to become teachers themselves.
Anne loved music, singing, working crossword puzzles, gardening, and traveling the world, but her greatest enjoyment was her family. Known to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as "Nana," Anne showered them with warmth and kindness, and brought a chuckle or smile with her sense of humor. Nana's "House Rules" were always good for a laugh to the family. Posted on her refrigerator for all to see, they will be cherished forever. The rules are still followed – nobody dares to break them.
A private service will be conducted by Minister David Liebman at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at 1 p.m. Burial will follow immediately after at Sunset Memorial Park.
