Obituary

OLDTOWN – Patricia Dianne "Patsy" Rose, 74, of Oldtown, passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at her daughter's home, surrounded by her family. Born on March 10, 1947, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late James Robert Martin, Sr. and Katherine Pearl (Waltman) Martin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, James Robert Martin, Jr.; and a very special aunt, Joyce Churchey. Patsy was a graduate of Fort Hill High School, and retired from ABL. She was a member of Solid Rock Independent Baptist Church. Patsy enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers, going to the beach, and shopping. Family was everything to Patsy, and she loved attending her grandchildren's sporting events and activities. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Paul "Pete" Rose; children, Sandy Reid and husband Pat, Paula Shepherd and husband Scott, Sheri Strickland and former husband John Strickland, II, Beverly Epperson, Susie Ritter and husband Craig, and Dan Rose and partner Heidi Killius; grandchildren, Amanda Milleson and husband Matt, Austin Reid, Jacob Shepherd and wife Catherine, Nicholas Shepherd, Savannah Shepherd, Dustin Strickland and partner Katie Richards, Brittany Epperson, Blakely McRaney and husband Tyler, Shane Ritter and wife Tiffany, Jesse Ritter and wife Elizabeth, Gary Henry and wife Stephanie, Shaun Ritter; eight great-grandchildren, who she all adored; as well as numerous aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family would like to say thank you to Dr. Huma Shakil, Allegany Nursing and Rehab Center, Tara Richards, and to UPMC Western Maryland Hospice for the kind, compassionate care everyone provided to Patsy. Family and friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, on Saturday, December 11, 2021, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home immediately following visitation at 1 p.m. with Pastor John Klink officiating. Interment will be in Palo Alto Cemetery. The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; or to UPMC Western Maryland Hospice, 1050 Industrial Blvd., Suite 19, Cumberland, MD 21502.
