Obituary

Patrick Vincent Corrado, 90, of Cumberland, MD, passed away on October 19, 2026, at home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent Rosario "Jimmy" Corrado and Yolanda Marie Corrado. He was also preceded in death by his sister Rita DeMedio, niece Gina (Corrado) Miller, and sisters-in-law Elizabeth "Libby" Corrado and Martha "Marti" Corrado.

He was born on April 10, 1936, in Connellsville, PA, and grew up in nearby Dunbar, PA. He graduated from Connellsville High School in 1953 and from West Virginia University in 1958 with a bachelor's degree in speech. He spent his entire career in radio and television. He began working at WAJR radio in Morgantown, WV, while he was still in college. He moved to Cumberland in 1962 and spent the next 54 years working in radio and television in the area. He spent 11 years at WTBO/WKGO radio, followed by two years at WUOK radio, 10 years at Potomac Valley Television Channel 8, one year at WHAG/WQCM radio in Hagerstown, and then another 30 years at WTBO/WKGO radio.

Pat spent the first part of his career hosting radio shows with music, news, sports, and weather and emceeing dances and "record hops." Early in his radio career he provided two radio reports that were broadcast nationally: a report for CBS radio on the crash of a B&O train and a school bus in Garrett County in September 1959; and a report for NBC radio in January 1964 on the crash of a B-52 bomber near Cumberland. He was part of the WTBO team that covered President Lyndon Johnson's visit to Cumberland in May 1964. He then began broadcasting local high school and college sports. He spent many of those years broadcasting Fort Hill High School football on radio and football for all local high schools on television, but throughout his career he also broadcast high school basketball, Allegany Community College basketball, Frostburg State football, bowling, boxing, Little League Baseball, professional wrestling, and other sports. He was the emcee for the entertainment at the Mineral County fair in West Virginia for many years. He met and interviewed many professional athletes, coaches, and popular musicians during his lifetime. He also sold radio and television advertising throughout his career and built lifelong personal and professional bonds with many people in the area.

Pat supported the local community by serving on the committee for the Christopher Columbus Italian festival and booking all the entertainment for the festival for many years.

Pat is survived by his wife of 68 years, Geraldine (Crocetti) Corrado; children Lisa Corrado Brown and husband Richard Brown of Belle Vernon, PA; Patrick Corrado Jr. and wife Susan Corrado of Annapolis, MD; and grandsons Evan Brown, Aaron Brown, Vincent Corrado, and Anthony Corrado. He is also survived by brothers Michael Corrado and James Corrado, sister Mary Corrado Soos, and a large extended family including many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
