Cumberland—Paul Aloysius Eirich, 91, of Cumberland, passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2020, at his home. Born in Cumberland, MD, on October 26, 1929, he was the son of the late John James and Clara E. (Grabenstein) Eirich. In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes (Steele) Rollins Eirich; sister, Mary Dolores Eirich; and brother, Joseph F. Eirich and wife Rosemary. Paul was a graduate of LaSalle High School, class of 1948. Following high school, he attended Drafting School in Washington, DC. He returned to Cumberland, and he was employed by the Kelly Springfield Tire Company until his retirement. Paul was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Our Lady of the Mountains Parish. At the church, he had served on the Parish Council. He was the past Principal of the CCD Program, Altar Server, member of Light of Life Prayer Group, and Eucharist Minister. For his service to the Church, Paul was awarded the Archdiocesan Medal of Honor. Paul was a lifetime member of the K of C Cumberland Council 586, HAM Radio Club, and he was a member of the Board of Directors of the Vineyard Home for the Mentally Challenged. At the Vineyard Home, Paul was the Winemaker. The Vineyard used its financial proceeds from winemaking to support the home. Paul is survived by his niece, Kathryn M. Humbertson, with whom he resided; step-children, William E. Rollins and wife Carole, Eric J. Rollins and wife Connie, Richard T. Rollins and wife Evelyne, Robert E. Rollins, Kevin J. Rollins and wife Nanette, and Patricia G. Terwilliger; several step-grandchildren; step great-grandchildren; and cousins. Because of health care considerations, there will be no visitation. A graveside service will be conducted at SS Peter and Paul Cemetery on Tuesday, December 22, 2020, at 10 a.m. This service will be recorded and livestreamed.
