Cresaptown – Peter Austin Handley, 65, of Cresaptown, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at UPMC - WM.

Born January 21, 1959, in Springfield, MA, he was the son of the late Peter James and Marilyn (Dunne) Handley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Francine Maria Burns-Handley; brother, Keith Handley.

Peter was a veteran of the Marine Corps where he served as the chef of the Commandant. He was a devoted member of the American Legion Post 13 Honor Guard where he participated in over 1500 funerals. Peter was also a member of the Cresaptown Eagles and the Knights of Columbus.

He also ran several catering businesses. Peter liked to recall that he was voted the handsomest boy in his class at Enfield High School and loved playing cards and friends considered him a semi-pro at set back.

Peter is survived by his brothers, Mark, Cary and Robert Handley.

Peter will be greatly missed.

Friends were be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 15205 McMullen Highway, Cresaptown on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

A funeral service will be held at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., Cresaptown, on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Military honors will be accorded by Ft. Cumberland Post 13 Honor Guard.

Interment will be in Queens Point Cemetery, Keyser, WV.
