Obituary

OLDTOWN – Phyllis Eileen (Piper) Dennison, 71, of Oldtown, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at home.

Born February 16, 1954, in Cumberland, she was a daughter of the late James and Minnie (Bennett) Piper. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Harvey Piper.

Phyllis was a graduate of Oldtown High School. She went on to work at the Oldtown Toll Bridge and was also employed as a cashier at Big Lots in Cumberland. Phyllis dearly loved animals of all kinds and always cared for a flock of her own farm animals. Most of all, she adored her grandchildren.

Phyllis leaves behind her son, Dennis R. Dennison, II and wife Stacey; grandchildren, Hunter James Dennison, Dennis R. Dennison, III, and John Dennison; sister, Grace Grogg; and long-term partner, Jerry Duncan.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, MD on Thursday, February 27, 2025 from 11am to 1pm. A funeral service will immediately follow beginning at 1pm.

Interment will be in Hartsock Cemetery, Oldtown.
