LaVale - Phyllis Ann Ware, age 85, was peacefully welcomed into the arms of Jesus on May 8th, 2024.

Born on September 22nd, 1938 in Thomas, WV, she was the daughter of the late FauntLeroy (Roy) L. Young and Edna Mae (Shrout) Young. She was the youngest of five children, preceded in death by her brother Charles Young and sister Maxine Holland. Still living are her sisters Shirley Simmons and Margie Nixon.

The family relocated to Cumberland, MD where Phyllis met the great love of her life, Donald C. Ware. Before long they were married and went on to have four children of their own.

How do you sum up the entire existence of someone you loved so dearly in a few paragraphs? You simply cannot. Phyllis was many things to many people. A daughter, sister, wife, mother, Nanny and friend. The matriarch of our family whose absence will be felt like a great void in our foundation. She was the one you could always count on to be in your corner, no matter what. She loved fiercely and was so very proud of her family. Anyone within earshot could often hear her bragging about her grandchildren, they were her pride and joy. Some may have considered her opinionated and they would not have been wrong. She never hesitated to tell you exactly what she was thinking which may not have always been a good thing. But at her core she was pure love and kindness, always rooting for the underdog and willing to give you the shirt off her back. Before her health failed her she enjoyed many hobbies. She loved to cook a big delicious meal but definitely not the cleaning it up part. These meals were enjoyed by family at regular get togethers, nearly every Sunday after church. She loved tending to her flowers and talking on the phone daily with her sisters. She loved to shop and spoiled her family relentlessly. She loved to read and enjoyed everything from a good book to a tabloid. She could answer every single question on 'Jeopardy' and finish any crossword puzzle you could throw at her. But perhaps her most important quality was her love and faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This faith that she has instilled in her family gives us comfort and peace knowing that she is whole again in the arms of Jesus and we will see her again one day.

Phyllis is preceded in death by her husband Donald C. Ware, daughter Teresa R. Dudiak and son Donald C. Ware, Jr. She is survived by son Ricky L. Ware and wife Tada, daughter Kelli L. Waasdorp and husband Joseph, son-in-law Jon Dudiak and grandchildren Jade A. Browning, M. Logan Reiter, Madison R. Reiter, J. Cole Dudiak, J. Cade Dudiak, Taylor Hillegas, Elizabeth Shaffer, Corder (Phillips) Ware, Hunter Ware, Noah Ware, Kristyn Getz, Andrew Waasdorp and many great grandchildren as well.

No funeral arrangements have been made at this time, a celebration of life get together will be held for family and friends at a later date.
