Cumberland,MD- Phyllis Simpson Warnick O'Brien, 92, passed away on Friday, May 5, 2023 at Sterling Care Frostburg Village.

Born February 25, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Milton Simpson and Lula Margaret (Feaster) Simpson. She was also preceded in death by her husband Randell O'Brien, all of her brothers and sisters: Mary Dorothy (Simpson) Hardy; Ruth Charlotte (Simpson)Pullin; Paul Edwin; Lewis Francis; Elvin Blair;William Wood;Grace Esta (Simpson) Chedester; Roy Milton; Mark Bailey; Quentin Brown; Kenneth Maffatt; Darrell Austin; and Marvin Craft Simpson. Her stepson Robert "Bobby" O'Brien.

Phyllis retired from the Celanese. She was an active member of Graceland Baptist Church where she served as secretary and Sunday school teacher for many years.

She was loved by many people, especially her many nieces and nephews. She will be sadly missed. She loved to talk about her big Simpson family. Being the baby, she would say her Mom and Dad tried thirteen times and finally got perfection!

Surviving is her stepson David O'Brien (Joann), her stepdaughter Lynne Hardesty (Larry); step daughter-in-law Mitzi O'Brien; sister-in-law, Mary, who is the only surviving Simpson of that generation. Many nieces and nephews and her dear friend Shirley England.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 10, from 11:00am until 1:00pm at Scarpelli Funeral Home, Cresaptown. A funeral service will follow with Pastor (and nephew) Quentin Simpson officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens in Oakland,MD.
