Ralph Wayne Layman, Sr., 76, passed away at his home surrounded by his family. Born on November 5, 1949 in Cumberland, MD to the late Eleanor (Layman) Dorsey and step-father, Benjamin Dorsey. In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his daughter, Ronaele Layman; and sister in law, Linda Miller.

Ralph worked as a Supervisor for Atlas Container Corporation in Anne Arundel County, MD for 50 years. Upon retirement, he moved back to Western Maryland in 2018. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching dirt track races with his grandsons and friends.

Ralph is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Karen (Douthitt) Layman; son, Ralph Wayne Layman, Jr. and wife, Jennifer; grandchildren, David Layman, Ralph Wayne Layman III, Emma Thomas and husband, Ryley, Autumn Layman and Summer Layman; great grandchildren, Sophia, Jack and Lennon; nieces, Lisa Miller, Lynn Sade and Lori Bell; nephew, Glen Douthitt; and brother-in-laws, Steven Miller and Roy Douthitt.

In accordance with his wishes, Ralph will be cremated and a private burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ralph's memory to UPMC Hospice.
