Cumberland Ralph Lee Welsh, 81, of Cumberland passed away on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at the Western Maryland Health Center.Born in Cumberland, MD on February 9, 1937, he was the son of the late, Virgil and Genevieve (Leasure) Welsh. In addition to his parents, Ralph was also preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Tim Bonner.Ralph attended Fort Hill High School. He later served his country in the United States Air Force. After being discharged, he was employed by the Blue Ribbon Bakery, from which he retired in 1997.Ralph enjoyed hunting and fishing. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and his buddies.He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Elsa (Huff) Welsh; children, Linda Lippold and husband Donald, Cumberland; grandchild, Kristina Poland and husband Richard, Cumberland; sister, Betty Bonner Cumberland; special friends, John Haines and Leonard Cutter; as well as his best buddy, the family Jack Russell dog, Chloe.At Ralph's request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. He will be interred at the Maryland State Veterans' Cemetery, Rocky Gap.The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Western Maryland Health System High Level Care Unit, and Intensive Care Unit for their kind, considerate care given to Ralph.
