CRESAPTOWN Randy Lee Garcia, Jr., 41, of Cresaptown, passed away on Ascension Day, Thursday, May 10, 2018.Randy was born May 22, 1976, the son of Randy Garcia and Sheila (Helmer) Harden and step-father, Don Harden.Dusty, as he was known to his family, graduated from Allegany High School in 1994 and promptly drove to Hollywood Park, Los Angeles, to meet Jack Vanberg, one of the top horse racing trainers in the world, who guided Randy to the Lazy E Ranch in Oklahoma to begin his career as a race rider. Dusty won his very first race as a professional jockey at the Charles Town Races. He was undefeated on Dancing Carousel, a horse that other jockeys refused to ride. He won many races. Dusty concluded his working career as an equipment operator with Don Harden Excavating Co.Dusty is survived by his son, Keegan Garcia; a sister, Amber; brothers, Bobby and Shannon; nieces, Ashley, Eden, and Lexi; nephews, Eric and Taylor; and many other family members.Arrangements are entrusted to Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A.A memorial service will be held at a later date.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dusty's name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.Condolences for the family may be left at www.ScarpelliFH.com.
