INDIAN ROCKS BEACH, FL Randy James Sturtz, 66, of Indian Rocks Beach, FL, formerly of Cumberland, MD, passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2019, at Morton Plant Hospital, Clearwater, FLBorn on December 28, 1952, in Meyersdale, PA, he was the son of the late Patricia Sturtz and the late James Getson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Timothy Sturtz; and grandmother, Jessie Diehl.Randy was a graduate of Allegany High School in Cumberland, MD, and of Prince George's Community College in Largo, MD. Randy is a Veteran of the Armed Forces, having served in the United States Air Force. Randy retired from the Federal Government, with the majority of his government tenure being served at the US Coast Guard in St. Petersburg, FL. Randy was most proud of being a father and will be remembered always for his quick-witted sense of humor. Randy enjoyed fishing, golfing and was active for numerous years in various men's softball leagues. He will be deeply missed by his friends and family.Randy is survived by his daughter, Kirstin Sturtz and her mother, Darlene Sturtz; sisters, Lori Rigsby, Sherri L. Ross, Laura Whiteman, and Belinda Malone; brother, Jimmy Getson; brothers-in-law, Dr. D. Joseph Ross, II, Randy Whiteman and Joe Malone; numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.Family and friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 15205 McMullen Hwy SW, Cresaptown, MD, on Saturday, June 29, 2019, from noon to 1 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home immediately following visitation at 1 p.m. with Rev. Harold R. McClay, Jr. officiating.
