Raymond G. Wise, 93, passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.Raymond was born on March 9, 1925. A native of Cumberland, MD, he was the son of the late Mrs. Bertha E. (Edwards) Wise and William E Wise. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Margaret (Gentry) Wise; daughter, Kathy Wise; son, Larry Wise; long time special companion, Betty Hightower; as well as all six of his siblings.Surviving are his daughter, Glenda Valentine and companion Phil Shannon, of Virginia; two grandchildren Frank E. Valentine, and Tammy Anderson, both of Virginia; four great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and Frank W. Valentine, who was like a son for over 50 years.Raymond was a United States Army veteran, serving in World War II. He was employed at the B&O Railroad, Hillcrest Cemetery, and retired from Kelly Springfield Tire Co. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.The family would like to express our sincere appreciation for the thoughtfulness and caring hearts of Commons of Cumberland assisted living facilities.Family and friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, on Saturday, March 17, 2018 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, following visitation, at 1 p.m. with Rev. Bruce McBride officiating.Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
