Obituary

Frostburg – Regina Mae Thompson, 78, of Cumberland, passed away peacefully on Monday October 30, 2023, at Frostburg Village Nursing Home in Frostburg.

Born on June 2, 1945 in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late William E. Crawford and Catherine Messick.

She is survived by one son, William (Bill) Thompson, Jr and wife, Krista, and a half-sister Melissa Joy in Easton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Marshall (Marty) Thompson.

She graduated in 1963 from Fort Hill High School.

Until her son Marty passed away, she was a devoted mother 24 hours a day to him. Her last few years she spent living in Frost Village in Frostburg. Special thanks goes to the staff at Frost Village that took exceptional care of her.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland on Friday, November 3, 2023, from 11am to 1pm with the funeral service to follow. The service will be held with Pastor Leo Lavin officiating with a committal service following the funeral at the funeral home.

Her son Marty was a long time participant in the Allegany County Special Olympics. So in lieu of flowers, please make donations in her name to the Allegany County Special Olympics, c/o The Hooley Plunge, 13515 Atkins Ln SW, LaVale, MD 21502, or via the Hooley Plunge PayPal account.
