Richard E. Hamilton, 80, of Cumberland, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 3, 2024. He passed away at his home.

Born on July 31, 1943, in S. Wales, England, he was the son of Richard R. Hamilton and Mabel L. (Seldon) Hamilton. He is preceded in death by both parents.

Rick is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Quylia M. Hamilton; 5 children, Jason (Noah, Harlee), Lori, husband Jarrett (Haven), Diane, husband Bill (Logan, Reilly), Kim, husband Jeff (Kira, Kassi), and Carol Lynn, husband Randy (Joshua). He is also survived by a brother, Tom and a sister Donna, husband Rich and 2 nephews Kenny and Ronnie Zimmerman and numerous great grandchildren.

Rick retired from CSX after 30 years of service. He spent many years as the union secretary while at the railroad. He spent over 30 years volunteering and being the president of the Hot Stove Baseball League. It was his passion and his pride. He worked more in retirement than he did when he was employed, all volunteer work. He completed Hammer Complex Baseball fields at the Cumberland Fairgrounds and ran the Hot Stove Bingo 3 nights a week.

In his younger years, Rick was an avid pool and tennis player and a bowler. He also greatly enjoyed being in the great outdoors with his son, Jason, hunting and fishing.

He will be missed by many.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland on Saturday, January 6, 2024 from 10am to 1pm. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1pm with Pastor Harry Copen officiating.

Rick will be cremated per his wishes.
