FREDERICKSBURG, VA – Richard Allen "Rick" Humbertson, 52, of Fredericksburg, VA, passed away December 30, 2020, at Stafford Hospital in Stafford, VA. Born September 4, 1968, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Eddie Cecil and Linda Louise (Hull) Humbertson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Thomas Cecil and Edith Agnes Humbertson; maternal grandparents, Henry W. and Ethel Virginia (Myers) Hull. Rick proudly served his country in the United States Army for a number of years. His time in the military took him to Korea where he met his beloved wife, Janice. The couple married in Texas soon after they met and continued to travel wherever Rick's career took them. He and Janice loved attending music festivals as well as running together. Rick had a curious nature; he loved to go out and explore the world, to try new things, to get as much out of life as he possibly could. He had a strong moral compass that guided him in all of his activities and travels. Rick leaves behind his wife of 30 years, Janice Annelyn (Shaffer) Humbertson; children, Benjamin Thomas Humbertson and Xander Louis Humbertson; sister, Debbie Brown and husband, Jeff, and Mark Humbertson and wife, Angela; nephews and nieces, Jeff Brown, Bethanie Brown, and Allison Blanchard, Jacklyn Juczwiak, Hunter, Riley, and Grayson Humbertson; and numerous cousins. Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, MD, on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. A funeral service will immediately follow at the funeral home at 12 p.m. Interment will be in Maryland State Veterans Cemetery, Rocky Gap.
