CUMBERLAND – Richard Carson "Dick" Redman, 73, of Cumberland, passed away Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at UPMC Western Maryland.
Born November 21, 1948, in Cumberland, he was a son of the late John and Viola (George) Redman. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline R. Redman; daughter, Laura Mae (Redman) Robey; sisters, Anna Mae Kincaid, Frances "Fannie" Jones, Grace "Sit" Illiff, and Carol Hall; brothers, Robert "Bob" Redman, Raymond "Shorty" Redman, Jack Redman, and Curtie Redman.
Dick attended Allegany High School then went on to serve his country in the United States Army. He later became a subcontractor for the Maryland State Highway Administration. Above all, he enjoyed being the drummer in his band, Solid Gold.
Dick leaves behind sisters, Tina Carns, Helen Kicks, and Alma Nobilski; brother, Don Redman; grandson, Garrett Ketterman; granddaughter, Elaine Robey; four great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and friends; and his canine companion, his beloved Princess.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, on Saturday, January 22, 2022, from 4 to 6pm. A funeral service will immediately follow at 6pm with Chaplain Bruce McBride officiating. Military honors will be accorded at the funeral home by Ft. Cumberland Post 13 Honor Guard. Interment will be in Maryland State Veterans Cemetery, Rocky Gap.
