Richard "Dick" Owen Springer, 94, passed away on Saturday, September 6 at Advent Health Hospital Celebration in Kissimmee, Florida. He was the husband of Gloria O. Springer. They shared 71 loving years of marriage together.
Born April 23,1931, in Cumberland, MD. Richard was the son of the late Dennis Howard Springer and Lelia (Day) Springer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughter, Deborah (Springer) Spinnenweber and his grandson, Brian Spinnenweber.
He graduated in 1949 from Fort Hill High School. Upon graduation his talent as an artist allowed him to paint Movie Posters for the Maryland and Embassy Theatres in Cumberland. Shortly thereafter he entered the Navy where, because of his artistic talents, they sent him to Draftsman school. He served in this capacity for 4 years during the Korean war.
Richard was an artist and active entrepreneur having founded a successful Screen-Printing Business, General Graphics, in 1965. Through the years, he also grew in his love for Photography and in 1985 he won the title of Master of Photography. Upon his retirement in 1986, Richard didn't slow down but was driven to achieve success as a Professional Photographer. He opened a photography and art studio in Florida where he would go on to publish work in Magazines, Trade Journals and Corporate Reports.
Richard is survived by his wife Gloria (Wilson) Springer; daughter, Karen (Springer) Muccioli and her husband Gerald Muccioli; son, Richard O. Springer, Jr. and his wife Nancy Springer; grandchildren, Lauren (Spinnenweber) McCready and her husband Miles McCready, Christopher Muccioli and his wife Ruthie Vilders, Michael Muccioli, Jennifer Muccioli and her wife Carlee Muccioli.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 15205 McMullen Highway SW, Cresaptown on Saturday, October 18, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow at 3:00 p.m. with Dr. Larry Michael officiating. Military honors will be accorded by Ft. Cumberland Post 13 Honor Guard.
Interment was in Sunset Memorial Park privately.
