Richard Allen Weimer, Jr., 74, of Cresaptown, MD passed away peacefully on June 4, 2023 in Cumberland, MD.

Born in Cumberland on May 20, 1949, he was the son of the late Richard Allen Weimer, Sr. and Carrie Marie (Robinette) Weimer. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Sue Spence, of Hiram, OH.

Rick grew up out on the Valley Road, and graduated from Fort Hill High School in 1967. He then proudly served his country, both stateside and overseas, as a Sergeant in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. After being honorably discharged in 1972, he worked a number of jobs and eventually began what would become a 30-year career with the State of Maryland, retiring as a CNA in 2010. Outside of work, Richard loved being out in the woods, hunting for deer, or out on the water, fishing for bass. He took great pride in keeping his vegetable garden happy, his yard clean, his boats running, and his pool clear. A fan of various sports, rock 'n' roll and blues music, and old westerns, Rick would routinely enjoy them all with his canine companions by his side, Hershey Lynn and Gabby Sue. While being in his company, you could always expect a quick wit, a kind word, a good joke, and his distinctive laugh. Rick was a loving, caring, and compassionate husband, father, and friend, and he will be severely missed.

Surviving Richard is his wife and "Snickerdoodle" of 28 joyous and love-filled years, Kathy Weimer, of Cresaptown, MD; their children, Daniel Kimble, of Alexandria, VA, and Amanda Kabigting and husband Lowee, of Frederick, MD; his first wife, Alice "Cookie" Weimer, of Potomac Park, MD, and their children, Erica Riley and husband Ron, of Fort Ashby, WV, and Darcy Walton and husband Dan, of Galesburg, IL; eight grandchildren, Emma, Evan, Carly, Hallie, Amaya, Aron, Kell, and Karson; a sister, Jeanne Courtney, of Cresaptown, MD; a brother-in-law, William Spence, of Englewood, FL; and a large extended family.

The family offers special thanks and gratitude to long-time friends and steadfast neighbors, Larry and Kathy Dicken, and to the dozens of dedicated healthcare professionals that helped care for Richard over the years.

In accordance with Rick's wishes, he will be cremated with no funeral services. His cremated remains will be interred at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap, Flintstone, MD.
