Robert Lee Cosner, 82, of Cumberland, passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family.

Born December 7, 1942, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Sidney W. Cosner and Marilyn "Midge" (Reall) Jeppi. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, John Jeppi; brother, Gary Cosner; brothers-in-law, Timothy McGreevy and Terry and Bobby Metz; nephew, Emmett Orndoff; grandson, Peyton Cosner; and great-granddaughter, Magnolia Whetstone.

Robert was a 1960 graduate of Allegany High School. Robert served in the Air Force from February 1961 until January 1965. He worked for Celanese and Kelly Springfield. He retired from the Cresaptown Eagles after 26 years of bartending.

Robert was a referee for the Potomac Valley Football Association. He was a lifetime member of the Outdoor Club and the Cresaptown Eagles. Robert was a 50-year member of the Ridgeley VFW Gold Star.

Robert loved spending time with his family and friends. If he was not home, he could be found at the sports fields cheering on his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Robert is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Debbie Cosner; daughter, Holly Hersh (Jason), Kim Cammarata (Mike) and Tracey Shepherd (Billy); son, BJ Cosner; 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; sisters, Cheryl Cosner and Lana McGreevy; aunt, Betty Lou Reall; sister-in-law, Elke Cosner; brothers-in-law, Dennis Metz (Donna) and Rodger Metz (Carol); as well as many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at the MD State Veterans Cemetery, Rocky Gap on Monday, June 2, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Harold McClay, Jr. officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Ft. Cumberland Post 13 Honor Guard.
