Robert C. Newman, 92, of Cumberland, MD passed away on January 21, 2021, at Hearthstone Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where he has resided for the last few years. Bob was born in Williamsport, PA, on August 9, 1928. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Bertha Newman; his daughter, Diane Newman; and his siblings, Gladys Kilmer, Stanley Newman, and identical twin brother, William (Bill) Newman. Bob attended Fort Hill High School and served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. Bob and Bill were two of the first brothers allowed to serve on the same ship following the death of the Sullivan brothers in WWII. Bob retired in 1990 as head cashier from A&P/Super Fresh markets where he had worked for over 40 years. He also served as a board member of Chessie Federal Credit Union for many years. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy (Henry) Newman; daughter, Karen Kulla of Dillwyn, VA; sons, Brian Newman of Chesapeake Beach, MD and Jeff Newman (Lauri) of Clarksville, MD; and four grandchildren Briana and Ryan Phair, and Cara and Evan Newman. Bob was always known for his sense of humor and his love and loyalty to his family. He will be greatly missed by everyone. In keeping with Bob's wishes, there will be no memorial service.
