Robert Tyrone
Shaw
Jun 23, 1940 — Jan 4, 2024
Our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Robert Tyrone Shaw, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2024. He was born in Oldtown, MD on June 23, 1940 to Robert Frederick and Nora Naill Shaw, the youngest of three children and their only son. He graduated from Oldtown High School in 1958.
Robert met the love of his life, Beatrice Selesky, in Baltimore, MD while working at Bethlehem Steel in the late 1950s. They married in 1961 and he spent the next 62 years by her side. Following the birth of two daughters, Robin and Cheryl, they returned to his hometown where their third daughter, Stacy, was born. His family was raised in the home he built for them on Opessa Street. He retired after a long career driving for the Kelly-Springfield Tire Company.
Robert Shaw, or RT as his daughters liked to call him, was a true outdoorsman. He was a passionate and skilled hunter and found great joy spending time with friends at his hunting cabin. He loved westerns and was somewhat of a cowboy himself, owning several beautiful horses throughout his life. There wasn't anything he couldn't build or fix. He enjoyed crabbing on the Chesapeake Bay, fishing at the C&O canal, snowmobiling, and bailing hay. He spent much of his time caring for his parents' farm and the land he owned in the country, which he dearly loved. His love for nature and the outdoors was only surpassed by the love and pride he had for his family.
Robert is survived by his wife, Beatrice, of Oldtown, MD; daughter, Robin and son-in-law Rich Harkins of West Chester, PA; daughter, Cheryl and son-in-law Peter Selman of Chambersburg, PA; daughter, Stacy Shaw of Miami, FL; and his grandchildren Evan, Kyra, and Graham Harkins and Madison and Chase Plausky. He was truly one-of-a-kind and will live in our hearts forever.
Friends and family will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. on Monday, January 8 from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm, with a service to celebrate his life to follow. He will be laid to rest next to his parents in the Oldtown Cemetery.
