Wiley Ford, WV - Robert Dale "Bob" Slaven, aged 66, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2019, at the WMHS Frostburg Nursing and Rehab Center.Born April 4, 1953, in Oxon Hill, MD, he was preceded in death by his parents, the late Ernest Dale Slaven and Barbara Flesher Slaven; and his daughter, Roberta Ann Slaven.Bob was known for his many talents and abilities when it came to machinery. Bob was a retired machinist for CSX Railroad and a member of the Cumberland Moose Lodge 271. Whether it was motorcycles, 4-wheelers, or automobiles, Bob could fix or modify anything. Bob loved to tinker with his toys, and was happiest riding his recreational vehicles with the wind on his face and the sun at his back.Surviving are his son, Robert C. Slaven, Cumberland; his former spouse, Lori Slaven, Cumberland; step-children, Eric Parker, and Amanda Parker; step-grandson, Jeremy Brimhall, Cumberland, his first spouse, Christy A. Slaven (Knott), Cumberland; and many of Bob's cousins and friends.The family would like to thank the Frostburg Nursing and Rehab Center staff for the compassionate care they gave to Bob.Family and friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 15205 McMullen Highway SW, Cresaptown, on Saturday, May 25, 2019, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jim Jeffries of the LaVale Baptist Church. Family and friends will be received one hour prior to the memorial service.Bob was cremated in accordance with his wishes.
