Dr. Robert "Bob" Morgan Wood, 89, of Cumberland, Maryland passed away on Friday, December 11, 2020, at his home. Born in Cumberland, Maryland, on May 26, 1931, he was the son of the late Joseph and Grace (MacMurdo) Wood. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn (Benz) Wood, a son, David L. Wood, and a son-in-law, Paul Young. Bob graduated from LaSalle High School in Cumberland, Md. He received his undergraduate degree from Mount St. Mary's College and Doctorate Degree in Dentistry from St. Louis University. It was in St. Louis that he met his wife of 64 years, Evelyn Wood, and they moved to Cumberland. Bob was the State of Maryland, Allegany County – Dental Health Officer and held that position from April 1961 until he retired on June 30, 1990. Bob was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and Our Lady of the Mountains Parish. Bob is survived by his children, Christine Saaty and husband, Michael, Daniel J. Wood and wife, Lisa, Scott Wood and wife, Sara, and Elizabeth Young; grandchildren, Amy Mertens and husband, James, Kara Saaty, Monica Pizzi and husband, Jonathan, Samuel Wood and wife, Lauren, Anna Wood, Katherine Wood, Sarah Wood, Sean Wood, Allie Wood, and Grace Young; great-granddaughter, Lillian Mertens; a sister Susan Harbaugh and husband, Andy; and a sister-in-law, Delores Love. Interment will be in SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Cumberland.
