Robertine Augustus
Murray
Nov 15, 1934 — Nov 7, 2025
CUMBERLAND – Robertine "Bobbie" A. Murray, 90, of Cumberland, passed away Friday, November 7, 2025, at Lions Rehab Center.
Born November 15, 1934, in Mt. Savage, MD, she was a daughter of the late Stephen and Anna Bernadina (Grahame) Boyle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Joseph Murray; siblings, Colleen Morgan, Joan Logsdon, Bernadine Grove, Eileen Bridges, Maureen Lennox, and Stephen Boyle.
Bobbie was a graduate of Catholic Girls Central High School and went on to earn her master's degree in education from Frostburg State University. For 30 years, she worked as an elementary school teacher in Allegany County. She began her teaching career at John Humbird Elementary School. After ten years, she moved on to West Side Elementary School, where she stayed until her retirement. Bobbie was proud of her Irish heritage, and to her students' and coworkers' delight, she celebrated St. Patrick's Day every year by dressing up as a leprechaun and handing out chocolate coins at school.
Bobbie was a woman of faith who attended and sang in the choir of St. Ambrose Catholic Church. She also taught CCD classes there. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and the Knights of Columbus Council 586 Ladies Auxiliary. Her church involvement extended to her community. She would always send meals to sick members of the community, and she truly prayed more for other people than she ever did for herself. She loved serving her Lord and living for her family; she truly enjoyed seeing the growth of each and every member.
Left behind to cherish her memory is her son, Mike Murray (Kathy); grandsons, Brandon Murray (Lakyn) and Austin Murray (Gretchen); great-grandchildren, Raelynn, Scarlett, Emersyn, and Harper; sister, Elaine Flynn; special nieces, Karen Shaffer and Sharon Gero.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 15205 McMullen Hwy SW, Cresaptown, on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 from 12 – 1:30 pm. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1:30 pm with Fr. Mark Carter, OFM, Cap. officiating.
