Obituary

Rodney Lee Pariser, 92, of Cumberland, passed away on Friday, May 3, 2024 at Sterling Care Frostburg Village.

Born April 9, 1932, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Irwin and Rae (Olesker) Pariser. In addition to his parents, Rodney was preceded in death by his loving wife, Julia Seymour (Martin) Pariser; brother, Ned Pariser and sister, Marla Andrews.

Rodney was a graduate of Allegany High School and Mount St. Mary's College. Rodney was employed at the Manhattan Clothing Store and later become owner of the store. Following his retail career, Rodney was a real estate agent with Coldwell Banker Workmeister Real Estate Corporation.

In his earlier career, Rodney had volunteered at the American Red Cross and the Cumberland Rotary Club. Rodney was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed following the Pittsburgh Pirates baseball team as well as horse racing.

Rodney is survived by his two sons, Jeff Pariser and Ray Pariser; step-son, Tom Martin (Alice), step-daughter, Carole Abbott; brother, David Pariser (Debbi) and sister, Barbara Beach.

In accordance with his wishes, Rodney will be cremated.

A memorial service will be held at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, on Friday, May 10, 2024, at 11am. Friends will be received at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Inurnment will be in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery with his late wife, Julia Pariser.
