An avid hunter, fisherman and family man, Ronald Alan Frye, 70, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday morning, January 12, 2025. Ron is preceded in death by his parents, William H. & Patti Sue Frye, and grandparents George & Eliza Puffenbarger and Claude & Mary Jo Frye and many special cousins. He is survived by his best friend & wife of 51 years Pamela (Price) Frye, children - Angela Frye, Joseph Frye & wife Heidi, 5 grandchildren – William O'Boyle, Charles O'Boyle, Magnolia Frye, Porsha Frye & Saylor Frye. His brother – David Frye & wife Carolyn, Brother-in-law- Patrick Price, niece– Brandi Ingram & husband Derek, Nephew – Matthew Frye & wife Ashley, great nieces & nephews- Jada Ingram, Rylee Ingram, Anna Kate Frye, Noah Evans, Mason Redden, special cousins Sonja Maphis, Gail Nixon, Adam Maphis and numerous family members whom he deeply loved.

Ron graduated from Allegany High School (class of 1972) prior to attending Allegany College of MD in the Forestry department. Ron began his 9-1-1 Dispatcher EMS career in 1975 with Civil Defense, he later became Deputy Director of Allegany County Joint Communications. He worked with many area non-profits, and volunteers as well as fire departments and EMS through the region including AHEC-West, GIS mapping, CERT Programs, Armature Radio Club & HAM Radio operations, to better the Allegany County region. This allowed him many opportunities to help mentor, coach, advise, and serve the area. Later he added Hampshire County 9-1-1 & Emergency Services to his resume. Through all this he instilled in his family the importance of learning through the certificates & trainings that he not only was certified in but also taught.

Ron was an active participant in his community. He was a member of Melvin United Methodist Church, prior to this he was head trustee serving at Davis Memorial Methodist Church. He was called to serve as a Lay Minister for many years with the United Methodist Church. Ron was not just a leader but also a mentor to many from Allegany County UME 4-H through the Agriculture programs as well as Pack 9/Troop 9 scouts out of Cresaptown MD. He mentored many scouts throughout the Potomac District on Eagle Projects that allowed many to soar. He was a member of Brotherhood in the Order of the Arrow, Ahtuhquog Chapter of the Allohak Menewi Lodge. He helped his grandchildren with newspaper deliver with the Cumberland Times News. Through his career and volunteer experiences Ron never knew a stranger and would help anyone he could.

Ron enjoyed listening to oldies country music especially the Statler Brothers Christian music and loved animals. He spent his life devoted to his family and friends and will live in their hearts forever.

Visitation will be Friday, January 17th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. 108 Virginia Ave, Cumberland.

A graveside service will be Saturday, January 18th beginning at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Patrick Hurder-Buhrman officiating at Davis Memorial Cemetery, 14300 Uhl Hwy SE, Cumberland.
