Ronald Lee Lewis, 84, of Cumberland, MD passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 25, 2020, in his home surrounded by his loving family. Born January 30, 1936 in Cumberland, Maryland, Ronnie was the son of the late Chancey Lloyd Lewis and Retha Mae (Bennett) Lewis. He was also preceded in death by his sisters: Edith Adelia Taylor, Nettie Gay Saville, and Lora Virginia Whittington, and his twin brothers: Earl and Merle Lewis. Ron was a 1954 graduate of Fort Hill High School. He retired from Kelly Springfield Tire Company after more than 30 years of hard-work as a tire builder. Ron loved fishing and hunting, and enjoyed sharing this love with his children, grandchildren and friends. He had immense skill in woodworking and carpentry and enjoyed crafting items for his family. Ron was a patient, loving and caring person who devoted his life to being a giving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend. He enjoyed life and it was evident in his happy, easy and outgoing manner with everyone he met. Ronnie was a generous man with a huge heart, large smile and cheerful personality. Ron is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Elsie Teresa (Linn) Lewis; his daughter, Pamela Louise McFarland and husband Mark, Franklin, NC; his son Ronald Lee Lewis Jr and wife Laura, Cumberland; his daughter Melinda Kaye Duckworth and husband Scott, Cumberland; his grandchildren, Justin McFarland, Bethany Lewis and husband Billy, Chad Butler, Benjamin Duckworth and Sarah Duckworth; great-grandchildren: Emily, Nebraska and Norah Lewis; his sister Helen (Lewis) Holler; as well as numerous nephews and nieces. The family would like to thank the staff of Western Maryland Health System Hospice Services for their care and compassion given to Ron and the family.
