PARMA, OH – Ronald Leo McCreary, 73, of Parma, OH, passed away Friday, May 10, 2024, at Pleasantview Care Center.
Born May 21, 1950, in Cumberland, MD, he was a son of the late Charles Richard McCreary, Sr. and Phyllis Jane (Law). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Beverly "Bev" McCreary.
Ronald served his country in the US Navy as a Marine Corp medic in Vietnam. At Kent State University in Kent, Ohio, he earned two Bachelor's degrees and a Master's degree. He was also a graduate of the Physician's Assistant Program, and worked as a dialysis supervisor for many years in the greater Cleveland, OH area.
Ronald is survived by two brothers, Charles Richard "Chuck" McCreary, Jr. of Frostburg, MD and twin brother, Donald Lee McCreary of Cocoa Beach, FL; nephew, Andrew "Andy/Drew" McCreary and wife, Michelle (O'Neale); great-nephew Kellen of Stow, OH; niece, Stacey (Haupt) Minnich and husband, Eric of Frostburg, MD; great-niece, Courtney; great-nephew, Brandon, and great-great-nephews, Miles and Shawn.
In accordance with his wishes, Ron's body was cremated.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, MD, on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 from 11am to 12pm. A funeral service will immediately follow at 12pm.
Inurnment will be in MD State Veteran's Cemetery, Rocky Gap, Flintstone, MD. Military honors will be accorded by the Vietnam Veterans Chapter 172 Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Parish, 300 E. Oldtown Road, Suite 2., Cumberland, MD 21502.
