Rosella "Rose" Tharpe, 76, of Cumberland, passed away peacefully with her family present on February 25, 2024, after a long battle with cancer.

She was born in West Virginia on October 20, 1947, to the late Glen and Rhoda Conrad. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Micheal Wayne Hapbell.

Rose graduated from Fort Hill High School in the class of 1966. She had many jobs across the state for 20 years while raising her family, before she was able to retire and focus only on her family, being a homemaker, and having some fun.

Surviving is her husband and loving companion of 29 years, Garry Lee West; children, Derwood "Bubby" Hapbell, Jr. and wife Carla, Linda Marie Hild and husband Kenneth Trigger, Paul Hapbell and wife Dawn, Brian "Neil" Tharpe and wife Kristy; daughter-in-law, Dawn Hapbell; brother, June Conrad of Petersburg, WV; many grandchildren including, Brittney and fiancé Derek Weiman, Melvin Wayne Hill Jr., Lane Austin Tharpe, Carlin, Joey Hapbell, Jena Hapbell, Paul Hapbell Jr.; seven great-grandchildren including, Kamdyn, Delilah, and Konrad Weiman; numerous great-great-grandchildren; and a very large extended family.

Visitation will be Friday, March 1, 2024, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. 108 Virginia Ave, Cumberland.

A funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Seth Wharton officiating.

The family would like to thank the WVU Cancer Center and UPMC Hospice for everything they did; they were wonderful.
