CUMBERLAND – Rosemary Blake Diaz, 91, of Cumberland, passed away on Thursday, June 3, 2021, at Egle Nursing and Rehabilitation in Lonaconing. Born February 15, 1930, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late William and Cecilia (Gerdeman) Blake. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Augustine Avelino "Augie" Diaz; and son, John Michael Diaz. Rosemary was a 1948 graduate of Ursuline Academy and furthered her education at Catherman's Business School. She briefly worked at First Federal Savings Bank before becoming a full time homemaker and mother. She was a member of Our Lady of the Mountains Parish, SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. In her spare time, Rosemary loved reading, spending time with her grandchildren, and, of course, her Thursday night outings with her friends at Geatz's. Rosemary leaves behind son, Matthew W. Diaz and wife, Pamela, Ellerslie; grandchildren, Maria and Nicholas; brother, John W. Blake and wife, June, Bowie, MD; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. In accordance with her wishes, Rosemary's body will be cremated. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at SS. Peter and Paul Church on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at 1pm. Friends will be received at the church one hour prior to mass. Inurnment will follow in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Rosemary's name may be made to Egle Nursing and Rehabilitation, 57 Jackson St, Lonaconing, MD 21539.
