CUMBERLAND – Rosemary (Leo) Evans, 96, of Cumberland, passed away Monday, February 24, 2025 at home.
Born October 12, 1928, in Cumberland, she was a daughter of the late Patrick and Mary (Farrell) Leo. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Evans, Sr.; siblings, Angela Lambert, Nancy Leo, and Richard Leo.
Rosemary was a graduate of Catholic Girls Central and Ursuline Business Academy. She worked at S.T. Little Jewelry Company, where she met her husband, Bill, until she left to take care of her growing family. Eventually, she returned to work at the jewelry store and was later employed in the business office of the local Plumbers and Steamfitters Union.
She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Our Lady of the Mountains Parish. She volunteered her time to the church as well as to the Cumberland Theatre. Much of the rest of her time was spent with her beloved grandchildren. In her later years, she loved going for car rides.
Rosemary leaves behind her children, William J. Evans, Jr., Richard F. Evans and wife Linda, Nancy M. Evans, and Martin A. Evans and wife Kim; grandchildren, Ashley Holderness and husband Rory, Courtney Evans, Daniel Evans, Kyle Evans and significant other Tiffany, Adam Burkett and significant other Angie; great-grandchildren, Vivian and Xavier; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, MD on Thursday, February 27, 2025 from 5 to 7pm. A Christian Wake service will be conducted at 6:45pm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick Church, 201 N Centre St, Cumberland, on Friday, February 28, at 10am with Fr. Mark Carter, OFM, Cap. as celebrant.
Interment will be in MD State Veteran's Cemetery, Rocky Gap with her husband.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Parish, 300 E Oldtown Road, Ste. 2, Cumberland, MD 21502.
