Cumberland—Ruth Ellen Brown, 67, of Cumberland, passed away on Wednesday, January 19, 2021, at her home. Born on September 15, 1954, in Georgia, she was the daughter of the late James and Nora Kathleen (Puffenberger) Brown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Shawn Kinser. Ruth attended Fort Hill High School. Following high school, Ruth became a wife, mother, and homemaker. She was a skilled artist who loved shopping and spending quality time with her family. Ruth is survived her children, William Kinser, Jr., and Freda Metty and husband, Shawn; grandchildren, Bethany Comire and husband, Chris, Trevor Giffin and Kristen Fetters, Shawnda James and husband, Justin, and Corey Metty; great-grandchildren, Selena, Christopher, Jaydan, Bentley Comire, Aeri, and Laisren Griffin; sister, Edna Neff and husband, Brian; brothers, Jimmy Brown and Wesley Brown, niece, Hope Wolfe; nephew, Robert Wolfe. At Ruth's request, she will be cremated. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to defray funeral expenses are requested to Scarpelli Funeral Home.
